It is hard to believe that after having performed the heaviest labor tasks and having miraculously survived, Boris Sveshnikov began to draw, although he knew perfectly well the consequences that the discovery of a single one of his drawings would have. He later recalled, "Drawing was my only joy. Perhaps it was the opportunity to draw that allowed me to survive the labor camp. The offered several dozen drawings have a lot to say about him and about that period.
