The history of Bessarabian art shows that after Russia's annexation of eastern Moldavia in 1812 as a result of the Russo-Turkish wars in this territory called Bessarabia, artistic culture with special elements continued to develop. Having common sources in common with the ancient and valuable culture of the Romanian principalities, which created the state of Romania in 1859, the culture of Bessarabia gradually acquires some specific features that are fully manifested in the fine arts.
