The aim of my book is therefore to present the profiles of the most popular Polish women writers and poets of the 19th and 20th centuries. On the one hand, I recall the most important facts related to the lives of these outstanding authors, their best novels and poetry volumes. On the other, I present forgotten events and works, often unknown to readers who do not normally engage in literary research, but always interesting and compelling. Sometimes I provide a mere outline of the characters and their work, sometimes a more in-depth analysis of (selected) biographical facts, works, or positions in the historical and literary tradition. I usually seek out spaces and times in which the masters of Polish prose and poetry descend from monuments (though most don't even exist) and become human beings—women, daughters, sisters, mothers, wives, lovers, and friends.
