The given work is a collection of materials of the conference dedicated to N.N.Soloviev that was held on November 29, 2002. Alongside with the reminiscences about Soloviev's life and various diplomatic activities, the participants of the meeting paid great attention to the problem of security in the Asia-Pacific Area, those new challenges that the states of this region face. Also such problems as trans-national terrorism, economic security, regional economic co-operation, prospects for further political integration in Central Asia were touched upon during the conference.
