The Art Of Ukrainian Sixties is the first attempt in the history of Ukrainian art history to pay tribute to a unique epoch - the sixties of the twentieth century, one of the most important, but at the same time little-studied periods of Ukrainian art.
The publication was based on 15 historiographical texts about the most significant artists of the sixties in Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, Uzhhorod and Kharkiv. Monographic articles complement the texts on "official" artistic practices that received in this period the impetus for a noticeable formal renewal: graphics, monumental art and sculpture. Several historical and theoretical articles at the beginning of the book, as well as the last section on literature, academic music, cinema and architecture of that time, provide a broader cultural basis for understanding artistic processes.
