Founded in 1918 the Regional Art Museum of Kaluga has become one of the leading cultural centers of the Kaluga Region. Famous collection of Kaluga doctor Nikanor Vasilyev underlies the museum, along with the masterpieces which came from the Hermitage, Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum Fund and private collectors. At present, the museum fund numbers 9000 works of painting, graphics, sculpture and arts and crafts.
