The author sets out the integral picture of the world architectural process in the XXth c. The architectural changes in Russia are shown as a part of the changing world system. Creative conceptions and directions, that forced out the idea of the unique style of the epoch, the "age style", are analyzed. The expectations are compared to the achieved results. The architecture is studied in its interaction with the epoch culture and in its dependence on social processes and historical cataclysms.
