The book was published to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of its author, the outstanding researcher Fuad Khasanovich Valeev. In the chapters of the monograph, the author reveals the origins and development of traditions such as artistic weaving, carpet making, embroidery (including gold embroidery), leather mosaics, jewelry, stone carving, home decoration, and wood carving. The in-depth analysis is based on extensive materials from expeditions carried out by the researchers in the 1950s and 1970s in the villages of the Volga-Urals, as well as collections from Russian museums and written sources. The results and conclusions of the study are supported by data from archaeological and ethnographic research and a comparative analysis of the creativity of the Tatar ethnic groups and closely related Turkic and Muslim peoples.
