The monograph studies symbolic and mythical and poetical forms of ideological and aesthetic pursuit of Russian writers - realists of the second half of the XIXth century. The phenomenon of spirituality is viewed in the broad cultural, philosophical and theological context, based on the works of prominent Russian and Western thinkers (V.V. Zenkovsky, A.F. Losev, P.A. Florenski, K. Jung, and others). The results of the research provide an overall picture of correspondence of the principles of aesthetic comprehension of history with the Orthodox Church from its origin to the present days.
