Oles Ilchenko is a Ukrainian writer and screenwriter. In his creative work he has more than 35 poetry and prose books for adults and children. He was born on October 4, 1957 in Kyiv. For Ilchenko, Kyiv is not only a city of birth, but also a place where the history of his family and the capital of Ukraine is strongly intertwined. And it definitely affected his work. He has lived in Geneva since 2011. Oles Ilchenko and his poems have gained considerable popularity both in Ukraine and in the world. His poetry collections (including "Winter Garden", "Cities and Islands", "Conversation before Silence" and others) have been translated into English, Serbian, German, Lithuanian and Russian.
