Historical and methodological opinions of the "subjective school" adherents (Lavrov P.L., Mikhailovkii N.K., Kareev N.I. and others) in the Russian thought of the last third of the XIXth - beginning of the XXth centuries are viewed in the book. The author reconstructed the methodology of historical learning proposed by the subjectivists, their conception of historical pattern, correlation of freedom and need in historical reality. The author examines the heritage of Russian subjectivists in the context of methodological changes, which occurred in Russian historical thought on the border of the XIXth-XXth centuries: crisis of positivism and the beginning of anthropological turn.
