This story is about ordinary Soviet people who were used by the system to re-convict dissident Levko Lukyanenko when he lived with his first wife in Chernihiv. Who are they, these people? And do they remember their seemingly inconspicuous actions and words? And how do they relate to these actions and words today: do they consider them self-defense? Or maybe a compromise? Or a device? And are they ready today to accept the new conditions as they did the previous ones, and to live in a city where one of the most important streets can be named after a man so feared by the Soviet authorities and whose destruction involved all those who did not oppose?
