The book is devoted to the phenomenon of "raiok" (small paradise), a portable and entertaining panorama, one of the most popular shows at city parties. Raiok developed a range of various entertaining means: sightseeing panorama, shows of puppeteers and barkers, oral advertisements, buffoonery shows. It also served as a kind of oral folk newspaper and influenced the development of traditional literature. The publication contains examples of authentic texts of the above-mentioned means accompanied with rare illustrations.
