Wife of Ukrainian writer Mykhailo Ivchenko, who was exiled to the North Caucasus by the Soviet authorities on trumped-up charges, where he died in 1938. She had two daughters, Lesya Ivchenko (1926-1947), a Ukrainian writer who wrote under the pseudonym Lesya Olenko, and Galina Ivchenko, who went to Moscow in 1940 to study acting, married G. Sahakyan, and remained in Russia after her studies. Kovalenko will not meet her until his death.
