Stefan Gierowski (1925–2022) was a Polish painter and an avant garde artist of post-war Poland. He was an outstanding creator of abstract painting, a representative of the contemporary avant-garde of painting, referred to as a classic of Polish modernity. After an early figurative period, his work entered a phase of fascination with the potential of color and light. The publication that we are handing over to the Readers was issued on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the artist's birth and the eightieth anniversary of the establishment of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun.
