The book, written by Pavel Gushinets in collaboration with Boris Denisyuk, “A Star over the Heart,” includes the testimonies they collected from participants and eyewitnesses of the terrible tragedy - the execution in the Borisov ghetto. It is based on materials from the archives of the Borisov Central Regional Library named after. I. Kh. Kolodeev, as well as interviews with “little people” - wartime children from cities and villages of Belarus and Russia. It was about them that Valentina Levi wrote the piercing lines: “By the eyes, by the hearts, by the souls, / By the dreams that go up, / The Jewish world was destroyed by a bullet / And the right to life was taken away.” On June 22, 2024, we will celebrate the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow - another anniversary of the beginning of the bloodiest and most terrible war in history. That is why the book is addressed primarily to the younger generation. After all, preserving historical memory is a guarantee that the world will never tremble from such atrocities.
