Archimandrite Antonin Kapustin was the head of the Russian Religious Mission in Jerusalem from 1865 till 1894. His name is connected with acquisition of a large piece of the Holy Land for Russia. His activities included foundation of asylums and monasteries of the Russian Orthodox Church in Palestine. He was a scientist, archaeologist, historian, writer, as well as a photographer and astronomer. His life was full of such a great number of performances, that it is difficult to believe, that one person managed to do all that. Still, in Palestine the main task for confessor Antonin was to take care of Russian pilgrims. It concerned not only provision of the necessary facilities, but also moral support of the Russian people on the Holy land.
