This edition is a reprint of the diaries by V. Albanov, navigator of the ship andthe only person, besides the sailor Konrad, who managed to survive in “St. Anna” pole expedition. Having left the boards of the frozen ship, he led a group of ten people to Franz Joseph Land, trying to find people and provide help for the rest of the ship’s company. There was no any chance to succeed, but Albanov couldn’t stay on the shipboard passively waiting for this hour. And he was unbelievably lucky: having lost almost all of his companions, on the cape Flora, Albanov came across Sedov’s expedition, which was going back to the continent, and joined them.
