The unique small-format photo album about the Solovetsky Islands was compiled on the basis of the collection of the Arkhangelsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, History and Economy. Photographs of the legendary Solovetsky Monastery, local hermitages, monuments of history and art occupy its major part. The author - Yakov Ivanovich Leitsinger (1855-1914) - is known far beyond the bounds of Arkhangelsk. He left a great variety of wonderful shots dating back to XIXth-XXth centuries.
