The author examines the history of the formation and development of social welfare of families of mobilized lower ranks in the Kursk province in 1874-1917. The transition from a recruiting system of manning the army to an all-class conscription set for the Russian Empire new problems related to the provision of families of mobilized lower ranks. The monograph contains materials from the funds of the Kursk regional museum of local lore and periodicals of the early 20th century.
