The collection is made up of the works of scientists, researchers of architectural monuments, who worked in the Smolensk region on the eve of the Great Patriotic War and in the first post-war years: Ivan Makarovich Khozerov (1889-1947), Pyotr Dmitrievich Baranovsky (1892-1984), Igor Dmitrievich Belogortsev (1911-1999). The book is richly illustrated with rare archival and contemporary photographs. Most of the works are published for the first time.
