The book is about the story of investigative journalist Jan Kuciak and fiancee Martina Kusnirova [both murdered in 2018]. Through the authentic testimonies of his family, friends, teachers and colleagues, he composes an impressive mosaic of two young lives, who at the age of 27 was silenced at the hands of a contract killer. The portrait of Jan and Martina was compiled by 14 journalists, led by Marek Vagovic. The authors also visited the places where Jan and Martina grew up and which shaped their personalities. Part of the portrait is a look behind the scenes of journalistic work. A separate part of the book are the findings of Jan Kuciak, presented in political context. Based on the analysis of available information and interviews with trusted sources, the book charts the fateful February [2018] night and also the course of the [police] investigation so far. A valuable part of the book is the first and only profile interview with Jan Kuciak. There is also his breakthrough report on connections between Italian mafia and the top echelons of Slovak politicians. The book is a tribute to two courageous young people and a continuation of their legacy.
