Yurkovsky Sigismund (1833-1901) entered the history of Russian and world photography. Inventor of the "instantaneous shutter," he nevertheless remained outside the purview of researchers. His work was devoted to a few scattered newspaper and magazine publications. S. Yurkovsky's articles were published in the St. Petersburg magazine "Photographer" and "Russian photographic journal", as well as his photographs (more than 80), now stored in public and private collections in Belarus and Russia .
