The monograph examines the Siberian exile (1943-1957) based on the representative material of selected prose and poetry of Kalmyk and Russian literature of the 20th and early 21st centuries in historical-functional, comparative, socio-cultural aspects. The works of Kalmyk writers of different generations, written in their native and Russian languages, convey an "inside view" of the tragic events in the history of the Kalmyk people during the period of totalitarian repression — deportation and 13-year exile. An "outside" view of the Kalmyk motifs in the works of Russian writers on this topic complements the overall picture of the tragic 20th century.
