The monograph considers settlements in the system of administrative-territorial and municipal structure of the Komi
Republic. Secular shifts in population distribution during the formation of the regional settlement network and local
systems of group settling of the population are revealed. A comprehensive description and typology of towns, urban-type settlements and villages-regional centers within the framework of settlement networks and local systems of population settling of the Syktyvkar-Mikun, Ukhta-Sosnogorsk, Pechora-Usinsk and Vorkuta-Inta systems of group settlement are given. The main text is complemented by five appendices, which systematize information on the formation of the regional settlement network, administrative transformations and renaming, changes in the number and status of settlements of the Komi Republic in the context of regions and towns of republican significance with subordinate territories.
