The book examines four architectural archetypes: skyscrapers, bridges, squares, stairs – semiotically significant architectural elements that contrast with each other and collect fragments of the image-collage of a modern city. The role of the elements of the image of the city in the process of personal identification of a person and a place (formation of territorial identity) and spatial orientation, a person’s need to understand his location in order to live and acts is analyzed.
