Caks (1901-50) is Latvia's leading poet of the mid-20th century, an early adopter of modern literary trends from wider Europe and one of the first truly urban poets in the Latvian language. In 1928, his first book was published, and he became involved in the literary scene of Riga, creating a magazine dedicated to younger writers. He earned his living by teaching and being a magazine reporter.
This is the first book dedicated to his work in Britain.
