The life of Todor Hristov, the youngest officer in the Army of the Principality of Bulgaria and a participant in the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising of 1903, has never been subject to a comprehensive study before. Inspired by the ideas of the brotherhoods of military officers, Hristov left the Army to join the movement for the liberation of Macedonia and Eastern Thrace from Ottoman Turkish rule. He played an active role in the planning and conduct of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising in one of its major hotspots. He was only 20 years old when he died in battle against Turkish troops. This monograph draws on archival records, memoirs, documentary and literary sources. It carries previously unpublished original photos from family albums.
