The work explores the basic features of Burkhanism, Sayano-Altai Turks' native religion, combining elements of Buddhism with non-Buddhist Oyrat folk traditions. The work makes a start from inquiring into the origin of Burkhanism, views the place of a human and nature in the mythology of Burkhanism, lets light on the basis of Burkhanism, narrates about its celebrants, and tells vividly about its major cults and rituals. Genuine texts of Burkhanism prayers are presented for the first time. Color illustrations are provided in the appendix.
