The monograph is a series of interrelated essays on the Sarmatians and their ethnocultural context in the Volga-Ural region during the 4th to 7th centuries. The book examines culturally significant and sometimes sacred artifacts, including elements of dress, amulets, and symbolic markings found on various materials such as metal, ceramics, bone, and glass.
Modern digital tools allowed for precise mapping of artifact discovery sites.
