The first scientific monograph on the life and work of the outstanding architect was written by the head of the Department of Architecture at the Polytechnic University, Vitaly Aleksandrovich Samogorov. The works of Leonid Volkov (1902 – 1961) largely determined the urban appearance of Samara (Kuibyshev) in the 1930s – 1940s. Many of them became architectural symbols of the city. The book, based on documentary data and archival evidence, describes the biography of the architect against the backdrop of the evolution of his creative method.
