Venta is a river in Latvia. One of the most interesting Latvian towns stands on the bank of it. The author was born there and all his love and devotion to the homeplace he put into this book, telling about its outstanding rich history, unique traditions. This is the only place where Sakta - Latvian women decoration - is made. But the world knows the word Skrunda due to another fact - in 1995 a Soviet radio-locator was blew up there.
