The monograph covers the problems of studying the biography and work of the writer Nikolai Georgievich Garin-Mikhailovsky (1852-1906). The first section consists of biographical studies, including the memoirs of contemporaries about N. G. Garin-Mikhailovsky himself, as well as the memoirs of his two daughters and granddaughter about how the fates of his loved ones developed in the first decades of the 20th century and during the Great Patriotic War and the siege of Leningrad.
The second section includes works devoted to the study of the poetics of a number of the writer's works, as well as his creative dialogue with contemporaries and writers of subsequent decades.
