The study covers the myths and realities of a row of conceptual problems connected with the attitude of the autocracy to the question of Armenian statehood. The basics of the work were presented on the scientific conference "The Centuries-Old Friendship. To the Question of Russian-Armenia Historical and Literary Connections" held on the 20th of September, 1998 in the house museum named after A.I.Khachaturian dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the society "Russia" in the Republic of Armenia.
