It so happened historically that the publication of the manuscript by A.S. Yartsov began with the "Ural Part", but in fact the author began his "Russian Mining History" with a description of the factories of Central Russia. This is the very heart of the country, the very root of its entire industrial history. It was here that the classical industrial tradition began to form. From here, the first factory foremen and specialists went to the Urals, Siberia and the southern lands. Almost all the "outside Moscow" factories were private. In their scale, they were noticeably inferior to the Ural factories. Nevertheless, it is impossible to imagine the early metallurgical industry of Russia without the "outside Moscow" and Tula factories. In the 18th century, large factories of the Lipetsk region were added to them.
The coverage of the factory territory of Central Russia was comparable to the then Ural industrial region, and perhaps even surpassed it. In any case, in this volume of the "Russian Mining History" Anikita Yartsov described more than 40 factories in several provinces.
