The monograph is devoted to the problem of artistic and intellectual comprehension of the world of childhood by Russian literature. The work examines various figurative and semantic aspects of the theme, presented in the works of the greatest masters of the word: F. M. Dostoevsky, L. N. Tolstoy, F. Sologub, Z. Gippius, S. Durylin, E. Chirikov, M. Prishvin, A. Tarkhanov and others. It also examines the problem of preserving and protecting the child's soul, its "nurture" by artistic words, including poetry, and analyzes possible ways of solving it. Using examples from the heritage of Russian literature and real facts, the paper describes the participation of mentors and teachers in the destinies of children. The author Dvoryashina Nina Alekseevna is Doctor of Philological Sciences.
