The first formation of the newly founded Red Army were being provided with edged weapons from the old Russian Army repositories. In the heat of the Civil War the need for edged weapons especially increased in connection with mighty cavalry formations setting up. The second volume of the title is devoted to the history of the edged weapons after 1917.
