This is the first volume of the monograph by A. Krusanov. The Russian avant-garde is considered as a social movement and is studied from a historical point of view. The author concentrates on the trends of literature, painting, music, museum building and events from creative life of the artists in Petrograd and Moscow. According to the author, the books make a strong contribution into the Russian art history as they demonstrate higher requirements to the museum/art historical work and impose respective standards in this field.
