The second volume of the publication is dedicated to the main events and names of the Russian visual art in the so-called “St. Petersburg historical period”. The policy of “westernism” is the topical question of this period. The author narrates on the topics: the antithesis “Moscow-St.Petersburg”, the symbolism of the sea and ship in connection with the iconography of the high composition in Russian architecture, the principle of the new European “regularity” in the town planning practice, the ways of genre system learning and formation and the prospective image of the world in art, and the cultural roles of Moscow and St.Petersburg at the end of the considered period change.
