Vladimir Lapin is a candidate of historical sciences, senior research worker of the Saint-Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, associate professor of the European University in Saint-Petersburg. He is the author of more than 50 scientific works. For the first time in the Russian historiography the scientist concentrates on the army of Russia as a separate participant of the Caucasian war in the XVIIIth-XIXth centuries.
