In May 2001 the international scientific conference "Russia, China and Far Eastern Borders" was organized by Amur State University in cooperation with Blagoveshchensk Administration, the Eastern faculty of St.Petersburg University and the Russian Academy of Sciences. Scientists from Russia, the Republic of Korea, China and Japan took part in the conference. Special attention in the reports was paid to the development of the Far Eastern culture in ancient times, the Chinese culture, the history of Russian settlements in the Far East, current relations between Russia and China, Russian communities in China, etc.
