The collection provides materials of the two international conferences held in Moscow and Riga in 2002 and 2004. They focus on the poorly studied topic of the presence of the order of Jesuits at the territory of Russia during the emperorship of Catherine II, Paul I, and Alexander I. Political activities, educational projects, problems of the religious Union and the influence of Catholicism are investigated. The authors also review archival sources and historiography concerning the topic.
