This collection contains research articles written by Russian and Norwegian authors
on the basis of papers that were read at a number of international research and
practical seminars that took place in Russia and Norway, especially in towns along the
border in the North of the two countries in 2018-2019. The collection also includes
articles by diplomats, area studies experts and professionals from various social and
cultural establishments, i.e. people who have lived and worked for many years in
the towns that lie closest to the Russian–Norwegian border on either side: Nikel,
Zapolyarny, Murmansk (Russia) and Kirkenes, Vardø, Vadsø, Alta (Norway). Many
centuries of good-neighbourly relations between Russia and Norway are explored
in the articles, which are based on archive materials and scientific publications, as
well as many years of research.
