The production association "Nefteorgsintez" is now OJSC "Naftan". The first and largest enterprise of its profile in Belarus. It produces automobile gasoline, diesel, furnace and motor fuel, products for the chemical industry, etc. More than 5 thousand people work in the company. It has the Palace of Culture and the Water Sports Palace, 2 libraries, a polyclinic, a sanatorium, a recreation center, a children's camp, a hotel complex "Naftan", etc. The construction of an oil refinery conditioned the birth and development of the city of Novopolotsk.
