The book provides the history of Jewish agricultural colonization of the southern part of the Russian Empire (modern territory of Ukraine) which began in 1807-1809. It traces the fate of Jewish agricultural colonies of Kherson Province in the pre-revolutionary and Soviet time till the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, and studies the genealogy of agricultural Jews. The publication is based on published and unpublished archival documents and materials.
