The monograph presents the latest research results of Russian ancient cultural and religious traditions. The topical purpose of the research is to investigate and classify the complex of beliefs and rituals connected with traveling. This can be called road ethnography. Particular attention is paid to the social aspects of Russian tradition of traveling, such as travel groups and their leader, food and bed provision during the travel, culture of communication between travelers. Archival materials were widely used alongside with the field investigations of the researcher.
