The book is dedicated to Rainer Maria Rilke, an outstanding Austrian-Bohemian poet of the XXth century. It studies Rilke’s trips to Russia and meetings with Russian writers (Leo Tolstoy, Anton Chekhov, Leonid Pasternak, Marina Tsvetaeva, and Boris Pasternak). It also focuses on the role of Rilke’s poetry in the Russian culture of the first quarter of the XXth century.
