This is the first complete review of the origin and the history of Riga's monuments and decorative sculptures. The book is supplied with bright pictures and includes both those objects, which were intended as monuments by their creators, and those objects, which simply turned into monuments by the will of generations. The book is unique for the author's special approach to the analysis. He sought to broaden the definition of a monument. Thus, about 300 of the existent works of art as well as memorial objects, which survived only in documented historical memory, are described in the research.
