The documentary tells about a historical-geographical expedition to the Matua Island of the Kuril Archipelago on the yacht “Arcturus”. This island was turned into a fortress by the Japanese during the Second World War. Then it was closed by soviet people, and all its military secrets were preserved. The narration embraces the separate events of the Second World War regarding the Northern Kurils, as well as the history of discovery and assimilation of the Kuril Islands by the Russians.
