The book includes two poems that stand alone in the work of Anna Akhmatova, and her translations of Giacomo Leopardi (1798-1837) – a famous Italian romantic poet, a theoretician of European pessimism. Anna Akhmatova was among the first to translate the poems of Leopardi into Russian. The drawings by the Italian artist and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani have been used in the design of the book. The texts are in Italian with a parallel translation into Russian.
